PearlAfric will take you with the East African Circuit on a tour through all the four East African countries with stops at the major tourist attractions. The circuit covers safaris in Uganda with a visit to the amazing mountain Gorillas. In Rwanda to the Rwanda Genocide Memorial Grounds, we take a game drive to the Serengeti wilderness in Tanzania and finally a visit to the beautiful flamingoes at lake Nakuru Kenya. 

Kampala – Bwindi Impenetrable forest

Day 1

Meet and greet at your hotel in Kampala at 06:15 hours. An early morning start from Kampala takes you southwest to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Crossing the Equator we drive through savannah grasslands seeing banana plantation and then ascend into the Kigezi highlands known as the “Switzerland of Africa”. We will have lunch in Mbarara.

Bwindi – Gorilla Tracking

Day 2

After an early breakfast depart to the starting point for briefing about your gorilla tracking adventure after which you will be led by experienced gorilla trackers on the slopes of the volcanoes.

Although the hike can be physically demanding, the anticipation of the exciting experience ahead is amazing, and the beauty of the gorilla forest and its inhabitants are fascinating. You are allowed an hour with the gorillas before finally sloping down back to your lodge.

Don’t forget to carry your rain gear, packed lunch, plenty of water, gloves, hat, and water proof bag for protection of your camera in case of rain.

Gorilla Habituation Experience

Alternatively you may pay an extra charge of $900 per person for Gorilla Habituation. This needs prior arrangements and bookings. Gorilla Habituation grants you more hours with the gorillas as you learn more about their behaviour.

Transfer to Rwanda

Day 3

Meet and greet at Kigali International Airport with our representative who will warmly welcome you and facilitate seamless arrival formalities. Your will then be transferred to your guesthouse.

Genocide Memorial Center

Depending on the time of arrival you are advised to have money changed on this day. You may have lunch in a selected restaurant in town (at your own expense). After lunch we proceed to Genocide Memorial Center where we shall learn about the Hutus and Tutsi tribe prior to the Genocide.

Nyamirambo Township

If time allows you can have an optional leisure drive through Nyamirambo Township. This is the oldest town in Kigali which has a unique stretched neighborhood found in southwestern corner of Kigali that envelopes diverse behavior with dominancy of Arab – like Culture.

It is a huge stretched corner which is sometimes referred to as a gangsters’ Paradise. Characterized with many Muslim residents, mosques and unlike other places that close by 8 pm with everyone inside their homes, Nyamirambo hustles and rocks late into the nights.

Transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park, Cultural Encounter & Canopy Walk

Day 4

fter breakfast, transfer to Nyungwe Forest which is South West of Rwanda. Have an optional visit the Ethnographic Museum to learn about the history of the people of Rwanda as well as East Africa as a whole.

Ingoma Nschya women’s group

After that you will watch the Ingoma Nschya women’s group initiate in Rwanda. This is Rwanda’s first-ever women’s drumming group which actively involves women’s participation in the cultural development of Rwanda. Ingoma Nschya has the twin goals of healing and women’s empowerment by using positive methods to reconcile with the violent past of their country and personal tragedie.

Canopy Walk

We proceed and checking into the lodge. You can go for an optional afternoon activity after lunch. We will drive to Uwinka, the main reception center of the park and set out for the canopy walk (extra fee of $60 per person). The Canopy Walkway is a highlight of a Nyungwe Safari and hangs 60 meters above the forest floor between giant trees and towers, this is East Africa’s only Canopy Walkway that provides a stunning view of the park’s amazing wildlife and nature.

Morning Chimpanzee Tracking and Afternoon Transfer to Ruhengeri

Day 5

After early breakfast we will transfer to the nearest reception center in Nyungwe Forest for the Chimpanzee Tracking.

Nyungwe Rainforest is a haven for primates and believed to be one of the oldest forests in Africa. Nyungwe includes habituated chimpanzees and 12 other primates species (including a 400-strong troop of habituated Ruwenzori Black & White Colobus). It’s also a birder’s paradise with over 300 species, including 16 endemics, and is home to 75 different species of mammals.

After lunch in your lodge we transfer to Ruhengeri reaching late afternoon for dinner and overnight stay.

Hike to the Dian Fossey Grave

Day 6

After breakfast we transfer from park headquarters to the trail head to access the Karisoke Research Camp which is about 10 minutes from the park boundary.

Trekking to the Dian Fossey’s grave takes about 1,5-2 hours hike, which too rewards you with good views of forest hogs, forest elephants, a variety of primates and bird species. It is so inspiring to learn about someone who was so dedicated and left a legacy that exists even today.

You will find the house from where Dian Fossey was mysteriously murdered in 1985. More peaceful is the place where she was buried just next to her favourite gorilla friend. Digit and about 20 other mountain gorillas either killed by poachers or suffered death for other reasons unknown.

Transfer to Tanzania

Later slope down to the lodge and enjoy a hot lunch then we roceed to cross the border to Tanzania either by road or by air flight to Kilimanjaro Airport. On arrival in Kilimanjaro Airport you transfer to Serengeti (Seronera Airstrip). On arrival, you will have a meet and greet with your guide who will transfer you from airstrip to the lodge enroute with an afternoon game drive.

Serengeti Balloon Safari

Day 7

In the early morning you will enjoy the memorable Serengeti Balloon Safari which is probably the most beautiful balloon flight in the world. The ultimate safari experience which makes you enjoy the most beautiful migration of wildbeasts through the endless plain of Serengeti. Your pilot can precisely control the altitude of your balloon. Sometimes flying at treetop height, sometimes lower, offering a unique perspective and great photographic opportunities of the wildlife below.

After bush breakfast, you are taken to the rendezvous point to meet with your driver guide and continue with your game drives.

Ngorongoro Crater

After lunch time we will drive direct to Ngorongoro. We will reach early afternoon. We will enroute with a game drive where we are most likely to run into the rare black Rhinos, buffalos, elephants and the African Cats. Proceed to the lodge.

Enjoy the whole day in the crater with Picnic Lunch

Day 8

After breakfast we go for a morning game drive. We’ll descend into the crater which is one of the most densely crowded game areas in the world. Home to nearly 40,000 animal. Here we’ll have a good chance of seeing the big five: lion, leopard, rare black rhino, buffalo and elephants. After a picnic lunch we’ll continue our game drive then depart from the crater to the lodge.

Game Drive and afternoon Transfer to Lake Manyara

Day 9

After breakfast we heading to Lake Manyara for a half day game drive. Although small in size, this park is one of the most diverse reserves in the country. Lake Manyara covers two thirds of the park.

We enjoy a picnic lunch in this area. Lake Manyara National Park is a birding paradise that has more than 350 species of birds. The park is also famed for its unique and exclusive tree climbing lions.

Morning Game Drive –Transfer to the Airport for outbound flight to Kenya

Day 10

Today we will enjoy another half day game drive in Manyara. We will later return for full breakfast and relax for early lunch. After lunch we transfer by road or use the airport for the outbound flight to Kenya. On arrival check in into your lodge and relax for the next day’s activities.

Transfer to Lake Nakuru National Park – Afternoon Game Drive.

Day 11

Have morning breakfast at your lodge in Nairobi and we drive to Lake Nakuru National Park. The Lake is the world famous location of the greatest birdlife spectacular on earth! You will experience a stunning en route game drive reaching in time for lunch at the lodge.

After lunch you will go for an afternoon game drive to see one of the largest ornithological spots, flamingo, and a variety of wildlife not forgetting the famous Rhino Sanctuary.

Depart Lake Nakuru to Nairobi

Day 12

You will wake up for an early morning game drive after you will have your breakfast. You will have time to relax at your lodge as you wait your lunch. You have an afternoon transfer to Nairobi (carnivore restaurant) with “spice” game drive and arriving before total dusk falls!
